Favorite Drinking Games

ASSHOLE

  • Players sit in a circle and the dealer deals out cards (face down) to each player in a circle until the whole deck has been dealt. Players then pick up their cards and usually organize them so that they know exactly where they cards are in their hand.

  • The idea of the game is to get rid of all of your cards. When a person next to you throws a card lower than a card that you have, you can then throw a higher card. For example, if the player next to you throws a 4, then you could throw another 4, 5, 6, etc. The action goes around in a circle. First person to get rid of their cards first becomes the president. The last person to get rid of their cards become the asshole.

    STARTING THE GAME

  • Whoever has a black "3" of clubs starts the game by throwing it on the table. The person with the other black "3" of spaids can then throw their card down, no matter where they are in the circle. This would cause a "social" - which means that everybody drinks. However, if that person with the 3 of spaids isn't quick enough, whoever is to the right of the person who threw the 3 of clubs can throw down any card above 2 or a clear card.

  • NOTE: In subsequent games, the president throws the first card(s), followed by the vice-president, and in order until the asshole finally can throw. These rankings are explained below.

    THE RULES

  • If the person doesn't have a card they can throw, they DRINK.

  • Clear cards are 2s and red 3's. If a player doesn't have a card they can throw, they could throw a clear card if they have one. This causes a social, which means everyone drinks. Then the person who threw the clear card starts the action again by throwing any of their cards on the table.

  • If two of the same cards (same #'s) are thrown in a row by two people, you're SKIPPED, and you have to DRINK.

  • If a person has multipe cards of the same number, he/she can throw them seperately or together. If two cards are thrown together, only other pairs of cards can be thrown after that. EX: If I throw two 5's, you can only play if you have two of something higher than 5. Same rule applies if you have three of the same number.

  • Jump in Socials occur in special circumstances, such as with the black 3's. The other cause for a jump in social is if two cards of the same number are thrown, and if a player anywhere in the circle has the other two cards of that number, they can throw them down before the next person's turn, causing everyone to drink and skipping everyone between the last player to throw and you. After the social, you throw whatever cards you want. Winning in asshole is all about being ready for socials.

  • At the end of the game, whoever is the asshole has to shuffle the cards and deal them out. While the asshole is dealing, he/she can tell anybody to drink. But be careful - once the game begins, everyone else can tell the asshole to drink for any reason b/c they are superior.

  • Usually the asshole also has to give the president his/her best card (usually a clear card) and the president gives the asshole any card he/she doesn't want. In games of more than 6 people, the vice president and the vice-asshole also have to exchange cards as well.

  • If the president has been the president for 3 games straight, he/she can make a rule. This can be anything. A popular one is the 'thumb rule' in which the player puts his/her thumb on the table then everyone else has to do it and the last person to do it, has to drink. Other popular rules include not being allowed to say 'DRINK", not being allowed to say a person's name, or saying "in my pants" after every statement.
